 | Expert Consensus
Guidelines. This web site provides some of the best
information around on Posttraumatic Stress, Bipolar Disorder, and
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, as well as other topics. They
have very thorough summaries of expert opinions that make a nice
resource for practitioners, as well as thoughtful and accurate
summaries for people with different disorders. |
 | National Center
for PTSD. A very good place for information on PTSD from a
leader in PTSD research. They offer a number of specific
topics for Veterans, survivors of natural disasters, survivors of
car crashes, survivors of sexual assault or child sexual assault,
PTSD in children, etc. |
 | International Society for
Traumatic Stress Studies. Home of some of the finest
researchers in the world on the topic of trauma and posttraumatic
stress. If you're a practitioner, don't miss this site.
You may also want to consider joining the ISTSS. I consider
their journal (Traumatic Stress) and other publications (StressPoints
and PTSD Research Quarterly) to be indispensable. Their
annual conferences are among the best around. |
 | Stress
and Anxiety Links. A diverse set of links to web sites on
stress, anxiety, and depression. It even includes links to
sites that offer highly readable descriptions of neurochemical and
immune system responses to stress and depression. It's
fascinating reading for anyone interested in learning, and is well
worth a look. |
 | Posttraumatic
Stress Resources Web Page. This site has a collection of
links to resources for PTSD. If you're interested in looking
through some excellent summaries of research, click on their link to
the National Center of PTSD at White River Junction. It's the
home of the PILOTS database, a catalogue of PTSD Research
Quarterly articles. |
 | NIMH Anxiety Disorders
Education Page. From the National Institute of Mental
Health. It includes some nice information on Panic Disorder,
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress, Phobias, and
Generalized Anxiety Disorder. You can also order printed
versions of their publications. |
 | Obsessive-Compulsive
Foundation. Another organization that I'm still learning
about. In addition to some good information, their board
members include top researchers like Dr. Edna Foa and Dr. Gail
Steketee. |
 | American Psychological Association.
Psychology central. Their site includes a searchable full text
database of psychology research for subscribing members, as well as APA
Monitor articles for the general public. |
 | Maine Psychological Association.
Includes a listing of all the psychologists in Maine who belong to
the Maine Psych Association. If the page listing psychologists
is down for maintenance, contact them by phone. They're very
thoughtful and helpful. |
