Some Books We Think Are Good:

For Clients:

(Usually, we tend to avoid client workbooks since sometimes they are not well researched and, although well-intentioned, can offer mistaken information.  Here are some exceptions.  The following are workbooks that do a good job reflecting some of the finest research on obsessive compulsive disorder, and that offer information that can be used to select a practitioner who is trained in approaches that have been researched.  They also provide ideas on some of the elements of treatment that can be part of treatment for OCD.  We feel that the information presented in it is best used when one is actively working with a psychotherapist who is trained in behavior theory and cognitive intervention.  Please check with your doctor or psychologist, since we feel that all treatment should be tailored to the individual.)

Mastery of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder - Client Workbook (Foa, et al) (No picture available - sorry!)

For Professionals . . .

cover  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: The latest assessment and treatment strategies (Steketee (ed), et al.)  This book provides a general overview of effective treatment for OCD without going too much into depth on the research, physiology, or behavioral theory.  It's a good starting place for information, and we also recommend going on to check other resources by Steketee and Foa as well as some of the recent journal articles that have been published on anxiety and OCD.

cover Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Steketee).  The opening chapters of this book provide a good summary of the available research on treatments for OCD.  The information (echoed in other author's summaries of controlled research) provides some clear thinking on why the protocol outlined in the rest of this book is probably the treatment of choice of obsessive compulsive disorder.

cover Overcoming Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder - Therapist Protocol (Steketee).  A quick overview of information put together by a brilliant researcher.

Mastery of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - Therapist Guide (Kozak & Foa) (No picture available - sorry!)  Also a quck overview of information, also put together by brilliant researchers!
